The differences between IDEA, Section 504 and ADA

As teens and their families prepare for life after high school it is important to know what to expect for accommodations and supports.  We know there are NO IEPs in college or at work but what IS in place to assure young people with disabilities have what they need to succeed?  See the document below that explains the differences between IDEA Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IEPs), section 504 plans and the Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA) protections.

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin continues to be an active legislator and effective advocate for people with disabilities!  Read an update about the reauthourization of the Workforce Investment Act. Senator Harkin talked about this at the Together We Can conference May 3, saying that it could be "groundbreaking for people with disabilities transitioning to the workforce"!  He first proposed the plan last summer and now has bipartisan support!

Way to go Senator Harkin...THANK YOU for your committment and continued efforts!
