About Myself:
Born & raised in Muscatine, IA. Left Iowa in the early 1980's after graduating from the U of I School of Social Work. Had a daughter born with Turner Syndrome which led to 23 years of working for Kentucky's CSHCN program. Assisted with the development of KY's F2F. Back in Iowa caring for my 1st husband who is a 30 yr Type 1 diabetic.
About My Family:
I have my daughter who is 26 back in Kentucky along with my son (24). They both were diagnosed in elementary school with ADHD. My daughter attends the Owensboro Community and Technical College working toward a Business degree. My son is a personal care attendant for a gentleman with Duchennes MD. They and their father are living in my home.
I'm here because...
Mary is 26 and has Turner Syndrome a genetic defect that affects only females. She was followed in KY's CSHCN clinics from her 3rd day of life until she turned 21. I became the SW for the Owensboro Region CSHCN office when she turned 3. Together we became active and involved in many aspects of the disability community in our region. Check with Sondra Gilbert, KY F2F for a reference.
Disability Interests:
ADD/ADHD, Genetic Syndrome, Hearing Impairment, Learning Disability, Medically Fragile, Orthopedic Impairment
