About Myself:
I am active in NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) Greater Des Moines, OCA, NAMI Iowa. I am a state trainer for NAMI's Family to Family class and NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group. I am also trained to In Our Own Voice. I am currently retired but I was the Director of African American Outreach for NAMI Minnesota. My plan is to work with African American Families, particularly grandmothers raising their grandchildren that have challenging behaviors to advocate for grandchildren and themselves.
About My Family:
All of my children are now adults but I have three special needs children.
I'm here because...
I want to network with those doing the same type of work around the state.
