My Age Range:
13-17
My race and ethnicity:
Caucasian
About Myself:
I am a advocate for Mental Health. I have Mood Disorder,ADD,Depression, and Anxiety. I feel very strongly towards mental health. I believe that if you work towards your goals you can accomplish anything, because my life is proof. I went from being the aggressive, and unhappy little girl, that could barely get the words out of her mouth to read, or to let alone, speak her feelings, to the girl, that has put her past behind her, who hasn't self harmed in almost a year, and getting As and Bs, and the girl who uses coping skills, to calm down, and cheer herself up.
About My Family:
I have a mom, who has been an awesome mother, who encourages me to self advocate in my IEP meetings, and express my feelings, she has taught me, many things which impacted who I am. She helped me work hard to accomplish my goals. My dad is non existence in my life do to bad choices, and not receiving mental heath treatment. He has taught me what not to do in life, like drugs. He also, taught me what it looks from the outside, to no not receive mental health treatment, and how it can really mess up your life. I also have a step dad, who is more like my dad, who taught me how to be respectful and the value of working. I also, a family of a host home provider, which is like adopting a kid, that is full grown adult, that is on the ID waiver. It can be very difficult at times, because, I don't get to be a teenager, I am a role model. My mom said even though she is older than me, it's like me being a big sister. But overall it did teach me a lot. It taught me how to be responsible, and it, taught me how to be more understanding.
I'm here because...
I am here, because I want to answer questions about mental illness, or what it's like to be a family of a host home provider, through mosaic.
