About Myself:

My name is Zachary Stier and I am happy to be signing up for FIND. I am a current Children's Library Director in Iowa and the founder of ZLS Consulting. I believe in the power of storytelling. I have a learning disability.

Through my company, I have started a new campaign called S.H.I.N.E. (Significance, heart, individual, new, and everlasting) to help each person with a disability and their family tell their story and learn advocacy skills.

Through S.H.I.N.E. organizations and families can participate in a workshop where they can learn how to use it in their life and or their practice.
About My Family:
I have a wonderful mom, dad, brother, niece, and sister-in law. I also have a great and funny cat named Oliver.
I'm here because...
I have had a learning disability since as long as I can remember. It has been both difficult and exciting at the same time. I was taught early on the importance of advocating for myself. I did graduate out of special education but had to go back into in my junior of high school. This was a difficult walk but I new that I wanted to empower myself and others to know they can make it in school and life. During my last IEP meeting, I was told that it was not recommended for me to attend college as I would not make it. Today, I have two Associates Degrees, a Bachelors of Psychology, a Masters in Library and Information Science, and a Masters in Education. My joy and passion is to empower professionals and families to know they can empower themselves to make their dream a reality. I founded ZLS Consulting, LLC with the intention to create potential in children with a focus on early childhood and literacy. We provide workshops and webinars for professionals and families on topics such as early literacy, storytimes, outreach, sensory enhanced programs and continue to develop. I also provide consulting services. I am excited to connect with you and your families. I have a blog:

Part of this campaign includes S.H.I.N.E. interview series. The goal for these interviews to help individuals and families know that they can make a great impact in the world.
