Hello, Find Readers! My name is Maggie Cox and I am an Assistive Technology Support Professional at Easter Seals Iowa. I am new to the AT team but bring with me a background in Education, both Early Childhood and Special Education.
Transitions are such a critical point that can determine whether an individual experiences success or encounters difficulty or failure. This is especially true for youth with disabilities transitioning to adulthood. Having a solid team in place to assist with ensuring the individual enters adulthood with the proper foundation and equipped with the necessary tools is the key to success. It is never too early to start planning for the future. In Iowa, this process should begin when your child turns 14. Transition Iowa is a great website for families and professionals to use as a guide during transition planning. Check it out to learn more and access helpful resources. http://transitioniowa.org/ I look forward to sharing tips and tools that can assist your transition age youth and allow them to step into adulthood with a firm foundation.
