Did you know September 21-27 is the International Week of the Deaf?
The International Week of the Deaf was launched in 1958 in Rome, Italy, by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD). It is observed in the last week of September to raise awareness and promote the rights of the deaf community. This year's theme is "With Sign Language Rights, Our Children Can!". Activities will include marches, debates and meetings for supporters of the deaf community.
More than 10 million adults in the U.S. are deaf or hard of hearing. For those who receive Social Security disability benefits and want to work, the Ticket to Work program and the resources listed below can help.
The Ticket to Work program offers Social Security disability beneficiaries choices in getting the services and support they need to find work and reach their career goals. To learn how the program can help you, contact the Ticket to Work Help Line at 1-866-968-7842 (V) or 1-866-833-2967 (TTY).
