Many individuals across the state are ready to get outside and prepare their gardens and planter boxes for summer. The Easter Seals Iowa Assistive Technology Program may have some devices to support the accessibility of gardening and planting!
Long-Reach Hoe (AT4all # 161856) is a stainless steel hoe with a long handle. The grip of the handle is positioned at a 90 degree angle from the hoe, giving it an ergonomic grip. There is an optional wrist-support addition that can be added which may reduce strain on one’s wrist. The Lending Library has a variety of additional long-reach tools similar in design.
Radius Tool Set (AT4all # 1630714) contains gardening tools with a curved, ergonomic handle. This style may allow the user to adjust their grip on these short hand tools. The ultra-light aluminum is strong and durable.
Rolling Garden Cart (AT4all # 163894) is a wheeled seat for scooting around a small area. The 10-inch wheels are designed for garden terrain and the seat swivels to allow for access of the garden plans for picking or pruning.
