October is Disability Employment Month

AT for employment    AT for job exploration

As your child begins to plan for transition to adult life, employment in the community should be a priority.  In fact, top of your mind starting even now to plan for success.  Job exploration is part of the transition process. Success in adult employment is strongly supported by and linked to after school work, summer jobs, and volunteer work.

It might be helpful to expand the jobs your child might do, explore or consider by going to JAN.

JAN  or the  Job Accommodations Network can help you find AT devices and other accommodations for almost any type of job.  You can search by job type or disability type. It is a great place to start to find the answers to the questions, “what accommodations can help me do this job?” or  during job exploration “what accommodations are there for any type of job if I have this type of disability?”
