Playing ball can be altered by adding sound, texture, or size. The Easter Seals Iowa Assistive Technology Program Lending Library has a variety of balls of all different textures, sizes, and sounds. Sound may enhance an individual’s ability to recognize the location of a ball.

Two examples of balls that utilize sound are below.

Beeper Ball (AT4all # 161840) is bright yellow in color, coated foam texture, and makes a high-pitched beep that will continue until it is turned off.

Bell Soccer Ball (AT4all # 166753) is a black and white soccer ball with small bells on the inside.

For more information or to see these devices, visit www.eastersealsia.at4all.com or contact the Easter Seals Iowa Assistive Technology Program by calling 1-866-866-8782 (Toll Free), or 515-289-4069 (TTY) or emailing atinfo@eastersealsia.org.
