PYD Network Webinar/Meeting

What Do Youth Workers Have to Know about the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)?

Tuesday August 1, 2017    FREE Webinar

11:00AM – 12:00PM

Presenter: Jutta Dotterweich, ACT for Youth Center of Excellence, Cornell University

About the webinar: For many years now youth work professionals have been raising questions and concerns about how to best integrate youth living with disabilities into their programming. We have discussed program strategies, individual interventions as well as creating inclusive environments. However, we have not discussed the legislation that protects young people (and adults) living with disabilities – the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). What are the key provisions of this legislation? What type of accommodations are young people entitled to? And how does that impact youth programs and agencies? In this webinar we will provide an overview of the legislation, discuss participants’ experiences and questions, and highlight helpful resources.

As before, we would like to invite participants of the PYD 101 trainings and members of youth worker networks such as 4-H, youth bureaus, and afterschool coalitions.
